Residents and visitors are being asked to avoid the downtown area of Springfield due to ‘safety concerns’.

Springfield residents and visitors are asked to avoid downtown near the Springfield Police Division and court buildings due to “safety concerns that are impacting traffic flow,” according to the city.

The threats in Springfield came a week after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from ending Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants.

The message says the immediate closure is “out of an abundance of caution.” ...
