The Fort Mojave Spirit Runners honor their ancestors and run for those who can no longer run. In the old days, Mojave runners traveled the trails that reached all the way to the coast and also to carry messages. Today, these runners continue that legacy. They are warriors who run for peace, strength, and guidance. Each year, the Spirit Runners kick off the Mojave Indian Days Celebration with their journey from the sacred Spirit Mountain “Avi Kwa Ame” to Spirit Runners Park in Needles, California
