On December 15, 2025, at 2:45 PM, the Alameda County Fire Department (ACFD) responded to a house fire on the 3500 block of Argonne Street in Newark. Firefighters extinguished the fire in under 10 minutes, and rescued two dogs and an iguana. One exotic animal could not be saved. Four people were displaced. This morning at 6:08 AM, ACFD responded to a structure fire on Madallion Drive in Union City. Upon arrival, crews reported the fire had extended to the back of the house and exterior. It took all twenty-one firefighters from the 1st alarm to extinguish the fire within 20 minutes with no injuries.
